These items bore witness to the events and now you can reach out and touch it; to wear it on your wrist. It may become one of the most memorable timepieces in your collection linking you directly to the past and it stays alive as long as we remember the sacrifice, to not be forgotten. This collection is not made to glorify war but to the enduring spirit of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice against tyranny so that we may live free. ABOUT THE AIRCRAFT OF WWII COLLECTION The Aircraft of WWII commemorates the airplanes that were decisive and dominant in the Second World War. They fought for control of the skies at a time when the lines were drawn; Allies versus Axis. Their fate is clear with the luxury of hindsight but there was a time from 1939-1945, when darkness ruled and the light of freedom flickered. ABOUT THE A6M ZERO The Mitsubishi A6M Zero is a long-range fighter aircraft, manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy from 1940 to 1945. The A6M is usually known as the "Zero" from its Japanese Navy type designation, Type 0 Carrier Fighter, taken from the last digit of the Imperial year 2600 (1940), when it entered service. In Japan, it was unofficially referred to as both Rei-sen and Zero-sen; Japanese pilots most commonly called it Zero-sen, where sen is the first syllable of sentoki, Japanese for "fighter." In the official designation "A6M" the "A" signified a carrier-based fighter, "6" meant it was the sixth such model built for the Imperial Navy, and "M" indicates the manufacturer, Mitsubishi.
